The country is super clean surrounded by beautiful Alpine mountain ranges, glaciers, and lakes which surely makes this country the majestic masterpiece of the Almighty. You have to visit Switzerland at least once. I strongly recommend visiting Switzerland in winter. However, in springs and summer also nature changes drastically as a different place altogether. As one of the biggest fan of Shah Rukh Khan who always motivated me to explore the Swiss Mountains, Glaciers, Lakes, and the Churches of DDLJ movie.

There are many places to visit in Switzerland especially the lakes, villages, glaciers, and mountains but my last trip was concentrated with the places of movie only.

Places in Switzerland of DDLJ Locations ….

– Lungern Lake

The shot in a song where SRK was fishing with Kajol that scene was taken in Lungern. The beautiful scenery of Obwalden, emerald green Lake Lungern attracts walkers, sports fans, and lovers of nature that offers a family-friendly area. The lake is a popular tourist attraction for pedal riders, fishermen, and the relaxing reliable wind. We went fishing there and spent 3-4 hours on this stunning silent beautiful lake of DDLJ. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any fish there but captured those great moments which will be with me for the rest of my life. We interacted with locals and learned a lot about food, culture, and tradition from the locals which is the best way of learning for any individual through traveling.

– Zweisimmen

The best route to reach Zweisimmen is you can either take a bus from Gstaad or take the next train to the following place. When you wait to catch the next train to golden pass connecting to Interlaken you will see few places in and around the station where some portions of DDLJ were shot. This place is where Kajol misses her train to Zurich and starts her journey which leads to her finding true love. We visited the platform and took selfies and videos there and turned the clock to 1995 to recall those nostalgic moments.

The souvenir shop where Raj and Simran argued and bought the Swiss Souvenir that is called the “Swiss Cowbell” is the major attraction among Indian tourists where almost every Indian visit and buy this Swiss Cowbell.

– Gstaad

Gstaad is one of the most beautiful glacier towns in Bernese Oberland a few stations away from Saanen. This tourist place is known for Ski destinations of the rich and famous but for some DDLJ fans, it’s a crazy place where the famous song “Zaara sa jhoom loon mein…arey nare na”. It is stated that Yash Chopra had gone on honeymoon and had fallen in love with the beauty of the region. We explored every street of Gstaad Promenade and but the must place to visit as a DDLJ fan is “Early Beck café” which is in Promenade itself and near to railway station. This cafe can be accessed by a small walk-in or you can hire a horse carriage to reach here after a round of the promenade. You can get fresh homemade cakes, chocolates, and cookies here. We ate and packed a lot of items from there. The staffs were courteous and talked a lot about the reputation of this shop among Indians. I wanted to stay in Gstaad only but this place is famous for celebrity’s vacation and rich tourists which makes this place as one of the most expensive places in Switzerland. In the last minutes deal of www.hotels.com, I found a cheaper family chalet at little bit outskirts of Gstaad as I wanted to create some great memories in chalets of Gstaad too.

-Sannen Bridge

How can someone miss this cute and small bridge of “Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana” which is just 200 meters away from Sannen Railway station? It’s the same railway station where the “Palat Palat” scene happened. After exploring the Sannen Railway station, my other destination was Sannen Bridge. It’s on Google Maps also and no need to ask as you can reach automatically here by the vibe of this place.

The perfect place for Instagram and Facebook posts and photos with a lot of 90’s memories. There is Sannen Airbase also nearby where Raj was competing against fighter jet over the runway which is visible from the bridge and you can witness fighter jets landing and take-off from few meters away only. And once you are here then don’t miss the famous church of DDLJ.

– St Mauritius Church, Saanen- St. Grant Church, Montbovon

There was a minor glitch here which was greatly captured by Yash Raj sir. The church in the movie is a combination of St. Mauritius Church, Saanen, and St. Grant Church, Montbovon. The exterior is St. Mauritius Church, Saanen but the interior shown is St. Grant Church, Montbovon where Simran and Raj prayed inside the church. Frankly speaking, I haven’t explored the church of Sannen as I wanted to explore the interior which is St. Granch Church and it’s in Montbovon which is around 30 km far from Sannen. St. Grant Church is open for all and it’s beautiful in terms of 13th-century architecture and designs and must-do if you have time.

Conclusion 

Switzerland is not a touristic destination for me or nostalgic moments. And there are many vacation spots in Switzerland. It’s an emotion and can’t be expressed over the statement or the lines. So please comment me what’s your best place.
