A Note About Budgets

Whenever I discuss travel budgets, people often ask:

“How did you spend so much?”

The Lost Mumbaikar Says

“Money spent on a beautiful view, a memorable meal, or an unforgettable road trip has never felt wasted.”

The truth is that many of these destinations are actually affordable. The budgets above are realistic for most travellers. However, I rarely travel that way.

I usually rent a car, choose hotels with exceptional views, drive scenic routes, spend generously on local food, and enjoy local beers, wines, or spirits. As a result, my spending is often significantly higher than the average traveller. That does not make these countries expensive. It simply means I prefer collecting memories over saving receipts.

Why This Matters
