When most people think of Dubai, they picture the Burj Khalifa, luxury shopping malls and extravagant hotels. While all of those deserve their reputation, there’s another side of the city that I believe is just as special.
Its beaches.
Having lived in Dubai for well over a decade, I’ve probably spent hundreds of evenings walking along its coastline. Sometimes it was after work to clear my mind. Sometimes with my family watching the sunset. And sometimes simply because nowhere else in the city makes you forget you’re in one of the busiest metropolitan areas in the Middle East.
One thing I’ve always admired about Dubai is that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dirhams to enjoy it.
Some of the city’s finest experiences are completely free.
You can finish work, drive for fifteen minutes, park your car and suddenly you’re watching the Arabian Gulf turn shades of orange and pink while the skyline begins to sparkle behind you.
I’ve visited beaches in Australia, Greece, Croatia, Thailand, South Africa, Spain, Portugal and many other countries during my travels to nearly 100 countries. Every destination has its own charm. Australia offers endless coastlines, Greece has postcard-perfect islands and Thailand is famous for tropical beauty.

Instead, I suggest Al Mamzar Beach Park.

If there is one beach that has transformed the most over the last few years, it’s Palm West Beach.
Years ago, many visitors came to Palm Jumeirah only for Atlantis or luxury hotels. Today, Palm West Beach has become a destination in its own right.
Stretching along the trunk of Palm Jumeirah, this beautifully designed promenade combines soft sand, crystal-clear water, palm-lined walkways and some of Dubai’s finest beachfront restaurants.
Unlike JBR, which is energetic and bustling, Palm West Beach feels more refined. It’s where couples come for sunset dinners, friends enjoy long walks after work and residents bring their dogs for an evening stroll, as it’s one of Dubai’s pet-friendly waterfront areas.
